Glittering eyes for Panpastel

Since tuesday , I have this beautiful song from Christina Perri in my head. "Jar of hearts". Can't get it out of my mind... the words "you're gonna catch a cold from the eyes inside your soul".
So , this tag is made by me for Panpastel with that song in my head. The theme this week is glitter and glitz and the eyes are glimmering in the dark from inside her soul...

Stamps from Stampotique and the last freebie from the craft stampers.
Background and heart in Pan Pastel and for the girl I used my Faber Castell brush pens.

Antoinettes birthdayparty

Yesterday we celebrated my collegue Antoinette, who is now leaving work to enjoy her pension.
We made one book out of old childrens books, were everybody had to finish one page. The other one is a circle book, one of Jaines creations and you can find the instructions here.

We had a wonderful evening together and dear Antoinette was very happy for her personal gifts!

This tag is made for panpastel and for creavil at the same time.

A couple of months ago, I bought these lovely panpastel colours and now I'm learning how to use them. I love the brightness and the soft shine.

The gears were embossed and painted aswell as the background. Really enjoying my cuttlebug at the moment!

Kathryn Wheel thinks that january in England is grey and boring and that is the reason why her january page is grey. I still believe that we can get some cold and crispy days here in Luxemburg this january , so my page is frosty blue and white. This is the first time I join this group of people. ...finally, I was able to finish my " 12 days of christmas "! Tomorrow I will take photos, but right now, after spending a whole day shopping, I will just enter my basement and relax with an art journal page.

I have got SOOO many UFO's (un finished objects)and now I DID finish this one - HAPPY!

My friend Jaine asked me if I would join her to make a "12 days of christmas" and of course I said yes to that - she always has these good ideas... But I'm still not sure what a " 12 days of christmas " is. I suppose it should be something about decorating the house, preparing for christmas, shopping ...(?)...
Because I love art journals, my "12 days of christmas" will be an art journal showing what happened in my life that special day.

So my first page is about changing windows and doors in our house. AND a discussion about eating pizza in the house when one family member might be allergic to gluten...

My "silent night" for SDC.

Over at the SDC, they would like to see some creations for christmas but WITHOUT the traditional colours.
I stayed true to my beloved blue and made the background with acrylics and wet wipes.

The angel is a stampotique stamp, designed by Jill Penney.
The trees could have been a stampotique stamp, but it is made by the swedish company www.reprint.se .
And the little star is designed by Jo Copper-Sandon, from the Stampotique team.

This summer my father taught me how to make these stars. I started making them in brass wire and then I painted them with black gesso. I think it is nice to see the brass shine through... and of course it's up to me to decorate them according to the season!

To start this post I would like to say thank you to crafty individuals , who chose me to be among the winners for october. That really made my day!

This is my autumn spread in my altered book. I love the colours of autumn! I know we have to be inside more this time of the year but that means aswell that I can spend more time in my basement... he, he!

AND halloween is back again. I bought this wreath and I decorated it with a little ghost dingling in the middle.

Then I felt sorry for the ghost, dingling about without any friends to chat with. So we made some pumpkin friends out of dried maple leaves and decorated the door with them.

So happy halloween to all of you!

This is my spread for our art journal, where Laurence has chosen the theme "flowers".
The background is made with watercolours, stamps and then brayered over with white acrylic.
I cut out some flowers from a mag, made some other flowers with the cuttlebug and stamped the rest.
Stamps used; Hero art, Magnolia(!), flowerstamp from a craft stamper mag and a foam stamp from Disney.

Today Luxembourg is hot and sticky. This morning I went running and it was VERY heavy to breathe. Then the sun came through the clouds and heated up the air. Now the clouds are back again and tomorrow the autumn will arrive. Rain and low temperatures. So this spread was just in time - next week we will have to do leaves instead!

This is my spread for art journal journey, where the team would like to see some orange. I finished these pages today thinking of somebody I care for alot. I hate to let somebody down, but yesterday I think I did... sooo sorry!

I used stamps from inkido, artemio and hero art. Rub ons from fancypants. The wings are from Tim Holtz. Colours used - perfect pearls gold, distress ink; glimmer mists and a lot of acrylics...

Inspiration and the feeling that I HAD TO TRY THIS OUT all came from this lady. LOVE her style and I admit that this is a "copy" of her work - but I just had to give it a go!

Altered deco "flower rain"

We spent a week in Sweden and I finished my "flower rain", made of an old altered hanger, some felt and different "flowers", made of paper, buttons, ribbon ... Everything found there, in our summer house. Sorry for the bad quality of the photos - I only had the handy with me. In the flesh though, this deco is just amazing!

a canvas for my parents

A couple of weeks ago our group at the mosaikscrappers had a workshop, where we started to work on canvases. This is my finished canvas with pictures of my parents grandchildren.
My mother always use to say that the grandchildren are the desserts(efterrätter) of life(liv). They are so sweet and beloved and they come in the "end" of life , just like the dessert after a nice meal.

This card I made for my beautiful Kinésithérapiste Natalie, who I hopefully will see for the last time this thursday. By then she has given me 24(!!!) sessions of chockwaves into my shoulders and I certainly want to see the end of the story now.
And did it help? Yes, the right shoulder is better and the left shoulder might have to have some "lavage" as the doctor puts it...

Right now, the team from Creavil would like as to do something out of punched elements. This is my contribution, using dies from Sizzix and Tim Holtz. The background is a collage made out of different papers, Neocolor 2, an old lace from grandma's leftovers and my new stamp from Jo Copper-Sandons collection. Love it!

mixed colours for the GPP street team crusade 53

My favorite colour right now is the one I would call "taupe". So by mixing black,brown and white I tried to find the perfect match. I still had some samples after painting our "africa room", so I found names for 10 of the mixtures and the last 3 (x,y and z)I named myself (granite, taupe and sand). And because I liked the idea, I made a spread in my altered book with the samples and finished it of with some gesso and the colour turquoise.

And while I had the acrylics out I tried to find a green colour called "menthe" to go with the "taupe", so I made another spread with a lot of different green shades. The colours I used here was icee, turquoise, lemon yellow, oxide black, burnt umber and titanium white.

So this is the my contribution to crusade 53 at the GPP street team this month.

Vacances Journal spread

My spread for the theme "vacances".

The photo is from last years whole family holiday in Moliets-et-Maa(France).
I just adore the beach there and the rough ocean is great for surfing. This was an evening walk back home from the panini place. One of the last evenings I believe - I can still remember how I felt ; a bit sad for leaving, a bit stressed to pack the car, a bit nervous for the long way back in the car...
And most of all; I had this urge to stare at the ocean and try to make like a photo in my head so I would remember the nice days here and how happy I felt as the whole family was together, know what I mean?

The theme was chosen by Laurence who is on holidays right now. Hope she is doing fine up there in Island!

Quit hard as I didn't have any mermaid stamp, but I made my own out of stamps from "de stempelwinkel" and "cherry pie art stamps". The "tail" is made out of home made paper with stamps from "kesi art" and "stampotique". The background is neocolours 2.

I cut out the circles with nestabilities and used funny photos of the children. So - yes - the nestabilites do cut through fabric...

The background is a la Donna Downey and I just love the structure. A simple and elegant layout, I would say...

My vegetarian curry-balls for Anna.

A friend of mine turned veretarian some years ago. She doesn't even eat diaryproducts BUT she allowes herself eggs to fill up her depot of proteins.
I do admire her strength.
Playing around in the kitchen the other day, I inventend a new recipe to cook for her when she comes the next time.
It really turned out to be very delicious! Happy!!!

Ingredients;

4 medium potatoes (cooked and mashed), 4 dl cooked thai rice, 4 dl white cabbage(chopped), 1 big onion, 3 garlic cloves,2 pinches of sambal oelek, 2 tsp of kikkoman soya, 2 tsp of ketjab manis, 1 1/2 tsp sweet chilipowder, 2 tsp currypowder, 2 tsp curcuma, 2 eggs and 2 ssp of sesame oil.

Fry the chopped cabbage, the onion and the cloves of garlic in the sesame oil. Add the soya sauce , the ketjap manis and the sambal oelek. Let it cool down.
Now mix all the ingredients together and form small balls with your hands or with two small spoons.
Fry in the pan in sesame oil.

The balls are very tasty and the whole kitchen smells indian. LOVE IT!

Serve with a dip sauce and maybe a green sallad.

I altered this book for our wholeday crop at the mosaikscrappers a couple of weeks ago.

I used one Tim Holtz (stampers anonymous) stamp as a background inside the book as well, but it is pretty difficult to see on the picture. Stamps on the cover are from Tim Holtz aswell.

So this is my nest, with my three children inside - growing and growing - about to leave the nest soon.

Carrés brodés - embroidered squares from Afghanistan.

"Deutsch-Afghanische Initiative e.V." started this project together with the organisation "Madeira" to help women in Afghanistan.
( Every square is 8 * 8 cm.)

In the village of Laghmani (situated about 70 km north of Kabul) you will find female embroiderers between twelve and the mid fifties. The older women have learnt to embroider in their childhood, but the majority of them have not done embroidering for nearly 20 years, and the young ones learn within the scope of the project. The squares are systimatically paid for.

The hand ebmbroidery of the Afghan women is a completed but not a finished product.
The European people, buying the squares, must set to work and employ their own ewperiences with textiles, their choice of colours and their skills so that a finished product can be created. In this way,symbolically expressive object emerge. These do not only combine 2 techniques but also 2 cultures.

The objects range from small bags with maybe just one square to beadspreads with dozens of them. Other objects include cushion covers, runners and wall hangings.

I bought some squares a couple of weeks ago and made them into birds to decorate my kitchen.

Great project from women to women.

Party at Gram castle in Denmark.

As grandpa in Denmark turned 90, we had a great stay at Gram castle in Sönderjylland, Denmark.
Wine tasting, ghostwalk, ecologic food and drinks and superb support from the team of the castle.
Of course I had to make a little mini album and here are some of the pictures;

The mini album is from Basic grey. I used ledger paper and decorated the pages with Hambly screenprints. I kept it very simple, as the pictures are those that should stick out most.

This is a collage of everything that goes through my mind when I hear the word "food".

Egg and rabbits for wednesdaystampers.

My easter door deco this year. At the wednesdaystampers the team would like to see rabbits or eggs this week. My father made me this heart several years ago and I always decorate it for easter. So this year, to fit the theme, I stamped some tags and placed them on the heart.

The stamps are sooo old. As my "big" ones (now 20 and 22 years old) were small, we made eastercards and sent them to friends all over. Now I don't know anyone sending eastercards anymore. Anyway - I found them and I had great fun stamping on a piece of canvas.

I took a nice walk this morning and I found all these different flowers. After spending some days with grandparents in Denmark it took me by surprise to find so many here. In Denmark it was still very grey - as if the nature was still waiting and hesitating.

I made 2 "stuffies" to decorate their table - hopefully they will make him smile...

The frame is from our local recycling center. I altered it with black gesso and a lot of acrylics.

I'm at home , having the flu. The doctor told me to sleep, keep the fever down and to have vegetable soup with water. I relly feel sick - the brain doesn't work the way it should. No craft for me then.

WS "letters" and prompt 6 "stamped letters"

Well, well...what a coincidence - our prompt 6 for our altered book is "stamped letters" and today I found out that wednesdaystampers challenge this week is "pick a letter". So, for once, I post this one for those two reasons.
This spread is made with my neocolors (again!) and I've used more stamps from the french company "Katzelcraft" + of course this gorgeous face stamp. I always forget its brand but I love to use it...
The decoration is some ribbon from my stash.

"on the edge" prompt no 5 altered book

The theme "on the edge" was chosen by Jaine this time. I got a bit stuck, I have to admit, but once I got started it was great fun.
The background is a collage of neocolors, paperstrips, gesso, acrylics and stamps.
Last summer I met this lady who was very sad because her peacock just died (a couple of weeks ago). She sold the feathers on a flea market in Sweden. When I told her that I would use them in my art journal, she got very happy and thought that her peacock Paul still would be remembered by somebody else but her. She made me a good price and now I have 20 feathers still waiting in the basement...

Anyway - this is the first page using one of Pauls feathers.

My "edges" are all decorated with washi masking tape(and one from Tim Holtz) - love the effect and the possibilities.

All stamps used are from Tim Holtz as well.

I can fly!

I had 2 days off work , so I could spend some time with our youngest daughter. And WHAT DO YOU DO with an almost 14 year old girl?
We spent the last days shopping...
I can feel springtime coming around the corner - the shops were filled with spring clothes and outside ,finally, it's getting warmer AND the birds are singing again.
3 weeks ago, I saw the first geese flying over our little country, so springtime is definately on its way!

This card is made for wednesdaystampers theme "I can fly".
If somebody REALLY wanted to fly , it must have been Leonardo da Vinci. This genouis, with all his art and ideas!
All the stamps are from a french company called Katzelcraft. The lady making the stamps had made a whole plate with his inventions.
The cage is from another french company called Atilolou.
The wings are diecuts from Tim Holtz and I was lucky to find an old brad in my stash, with a bird and the word "fly".
The background is painted with acrylics this time.
I am quit sure Mr da Vinci himself must have said the words "I can fly" several times in his life...!

I used my new neocolors, wich my boss brought me last week (not bad with a boss like that, hey...), an image from a magazine, diecuts, stamps from Tim Holtz and Gel-a-tine and the quote is from my daughter (probably stolen from somebody else...?)
I am very happy with my new colors and I hope to use them alot in the future!

At the wednesdaystampers this weeks' theme is "inky backgrounds".
I used some homemade stencils and inked the background with stamp pads.

Prompt 3 altered book

Our "prompt 3" is to make a "window" in one page.
Here I coloured the pages with neocolors (again) and decorated them with my favorite embellishments. The window is made like an arch and the wire is glued between page 3 and 4 to allow beads on the wire.

My TAG for wednesdaystampers

This is NOT easy! I can only use my left arm, as I have an inflammation in my right shoulder. My youngest daughter had to help me to put this tag together - I was lucky to have her at home...

I made the tag out of a canvas and coloured it with neocolors and acrylics. To get more texture I added old, english bookpaper with some nice words.
The stamps used are from Cherry Pie Art Stamps.
As I have to stay inside another 3 days, unable to do almost anything I have a LOT OF time to think and that is why I chose these stamps;

"Light" prompt 2 2011

We are already up to prompt nr 2 in our altered book. The prompt this time is light and this is my page. I have used my beloved neocolors as a background and stamps by Tim Holtz etc. The tree is painted free hand.
In order to make the stamping sharper , I first stamped on tissue paper with staz-on and pasted it into my book.

This week at the wednesdaystampers, the theme is music.
SOOO many possibilities!
I chose to use my ticket from last friday at the philharmony, and make it into a tag. I covered it with gesso, painted it with watercolours and stamped with stamps from the french "tamponmaniak". The image is Tchaikovsky and to make him look a little bit happy - I gave him a little party hat. It was his music we heard last friday and it was really a stunning evening - the crescendo in the end did it all!
Who says classical music has to be boring...

January -11 GPP street team, crusade 47 "it's a wrap"

A new year, new thoughts and new inspiration...

At GPP street team, Michelle Ward has put up the crusade no 47 and would like to see some creations made out of wraps from christmas.

In january I'm almost tired of all the colours and impressions from christmas. So, as I joined the crusade, I had to use "simple" colours and I was lucky to find some silk- and brown paper in my collection. Everything used is recycled stuff from this and last christmas. I have so many wonderful papers and tags left, but of course, I couldn't use all of them.

I tried to keep the pages simple as possible and let the silence speek. My favorite is the first page (obvious!).

My big dream this january is to get smaller instead of big. After a week of healthy food, I can already feel a difference, so now it's quit easy to continue.

This is my first page in my art journal 2011. Jaine started our altered book project on her blog the 1st of january.

When christmas is over I almost enjoy the calm elegance of white. It brings peace to my soul even though I love christmas with its warm colours.

These are the very last pages made for scrap à la fraise' project "livre altere". I am very proud to present them - maybe I'm the only one who DID finish the book.

This page is totally inspired by Donna Downeys "inspiration wednesday". I love to check her site for new ideas. I used some real tags with texture to make the background. Great fun!

This spread is made with a background à la Tam at Willowing ,where I joined a free workshop this autumn. A lot of colouring and a LOT OF "brayering"... can't understand how I could survive without a brayer before I started using it!
I tried the "drippage" with my glazes - maybe just a little bit too glossy... The text is made out of my sons keybord - he got a new one from Santa and I just could NOT throw it away.

So here I am welcoming year 2011, looking forward to a new project - another altered book.

"Snowflakes" for wednesdaystampers

The next parcel goes to Denmark. The christmas cards are painted with acrylics. The background is stamped with a stamp from Panduro aswell as the text " god jul" = " merry christmas". The stamps for the tags are from Stampotique and Crafty individuals.
I decorated the cards with some snowflakestickers and I hope that will be enough to join wednesdaystampers challenge "snowflakes".

Jaine wanted us to do a page with fabric and my mind got stuck... couldn't think of anything with fabric!

BUT this evening I got stuck in the basement ( ...meeting called of because of weather conditions...) and sitting there I was waiting for our daughter to get home. She was stuck in town and the trafic didn't move at all.
SO I made this page for her - the image might be a bit dramatic , but I like the colours.

BUT she still isn't home...
it will be a looooong night waiting...

"heavenly creatures" for wednesdaystampers

This is my entry for wednesdaystampers theme "heavenly creatures".

... ever heard of Mamma Muh, the cow who doesn't accept to be ONLY a cow?
" I don't want to chew and stare all the time, only because I'm a cow", she says.

I always loved the stories, and the pictures in these childrenbooks are amazing.
So, for me , my heavenly creature this week is a cow dancing ballett - refusing to give up, always trying new things ( like biking, skating, swimming...),exploring, not accepting that there are things a cow normally doesn't do or like.

I made the background with stamps ( Kesi art, Laundry Line) , Neocolors and acrylics.
The wings for my heavenly creature were made with the cuttlebug (Tim Holtz' heart). The crown/hat/flower was pimped with some bling and the words down to the left is a rubb-on 100% fille = 100% girl.

" pointy hats" for wednesdaystampers

At wednesdaystampers this weeks theme is "pointy hats" so I made another journal page to join the challange.
I only had one stamp with a pointy hat, so of course I had to use it (Zettiology).
The other hat was made out of christmas stamps ( Panduro ).
The background is painted with watercolour, stamped with punchinella, collaged and gessoed over to get the misty effect.
The other stamps are from the sheet "correspondence" and " Gustav Klimt " from Cherry Pie Art Stamps.

I wish you all a nice week and a crispy 1. advent. Luxemburg is expecting snow and I'm looking forward to it ( as long as the roads are free, snow is great!).

The wednesdaystampers would like to see some ideas about Asia this week. I made this collage as my entry.
The background is made of masking tape. I painted it with acrylics and walnut ink and covered it with torn paper from a chinese newspaper. The photo is from Tuscan rose.
I used stamps from Personal images(oriental collage) and Hampion art stamps. The ribbon is bought at a craft fair in Germany, but i don't remember the name of the shop...

This is my page for scrap a la fraises consigné 19. We should use an envelope, flowers and different brads.
I made this page to honour my mother. We always try to hide away and get the last evening sun as we chat about everything during the summer holidays. I adore the colour of the barn - a typical house colour in Sweden. It is called "faluröd".

I used my new foamstamps with acrylics and some masking tape aswell.
